Rev Paul F. Bailey Celebrates 50th Ordination Anniversary

Father Bailey was ordained a priest on February 3, 1958 at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston by the then Archbishop Richard J. Cushing.

His first assignment was at Blessed Sacrament Church in Jamaica Plain.  In 1959 he was assigned to St. George Church in Framingham.

Father Bailey was a student at Boston College Graduate School of Social Work in 1960, receiving his Masters of Social Work in 1962.  Following graduation he worked as a Psychotherapist at the Family Counseling and Guidance Centers in Framingham until 1966.  He was appointed Executive Director of Cambridge Catholic Charities and continued his work there as a therapist until 1967.  Father Bailey was appointed Executive Director of Catholic Charities in Haverhill and Lawrence from 1967 until 1979 as well as in Lowell beginning in 1971.

Father Bailey was Pastor of St. Michael Church in Lowell from 1979 until 1990.  He moved to Plymouth and became Pastor of St. Peter Church until 2002.

Since November 2002 Father Bailey has been Senior Priest at St Mary!
